A baby boomer is someone who was
born during the period of increased birth rates when economic prosperity
rose in many countries following World War II.
In the United States, the term is
iconic and more properly capitalized as Baby Boomers and commonly
applied to people with birth years from the span 1946 to 1964, which may
comprise more than one generation.
Baby boomers also had the highest
median household incomes in the United States. |

don't retire until they are well
into their 70's.

In the United
States, approximately 79 million babies were born during the Baby
Boom.
In 2006, the oldest Baby Boomers are turning 60 years old,
including the first two Baby Boomer presidents, Presidents
William J. Clinton and George W. Bush, both born in the first year of
the Baby Boom, 1946.
The dramatic increase in births during the Baby Boom helped to
lead to exponential rises in the demand for consumer products, suburban
homes, automobiles, roads, and services.
